Compassion for Sinners
“Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts. Let them turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on them, and to our God, for he will freely pardon.” Isaiah 55:7
God does not seek out perfect people to praise, but imperfect people He can grace with His compassion. We are called to grow in grace, and only those who struggle with sin, honestly, can grow in grace because only the sinless have no need for forgiveness. It is the unrighteous that need His righteousness. It is us who know we are sinners, who know we need salvation, who are honest about our humanity, that want pardon in Christ Jesus.
We do not merely add Christ to our tool box of handling life’s problems, but we make Him the only way to deal with life’s problems. As we turn to Christ Jesus in our times of needs we will find His compassion and pardon to redeem and restore us.
Let’s pray today to be quick in seeking our Lord with praise and for forgiveness.
