Dying Without Fear
“For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me and for the gospel will save it.” Mark 8:35
When the selfless Spirit of God dwells in us we do not fear loss of our earthly life because eternity awaits. We may grieve the thought of leaving loved ones, but God will remain with them. We may think to resist threats to our life on behalf of the Kingdom of God, but by His strength we will gladly lay down our life rather than dishonoring the God we serve.
Life is precious and none of us should want death, but we ought not to fear it either. The enemy of Christ delights in death but we know that it is not the end. Our Lord gained victory over death and because of Him we have that same victory.
Let’s pray today that we may be in such close worship of Christ that we do not fear dying.
