Prayerful Tears

“Then you will call, and the Lord will answer; you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I. If you do away with the yoke of oppression, with the pointing finger and malicious talk“ Isaiah 58:9

Sometimes the most sincere, authentic, heartfelt prayers we can utter are with our tears not our words. When our sorrow can not be expressed in audible language, but in uncontrollable crying, God hears. Like a parent moved by the sadness of a child, so our Heavenly Father is moved by the pain of our grief. Like His Son in Gethsemane, our tears call out to Him for comfort and hope.

In our desire to seek the Lord’s help and an answer to our prayer, we should let go of any cherished sin that may hinder our relationship with the Lord. A broken and contrite heart is never despised by our prayer-answering God.

Let’s pray today in thanksgiving that our Lord hears the sorrow in our heart, not just our words.
