Harboring Sin

“Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper, but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy.” Proverbs 28:13

When we harbor sin, when we nurture it in a hidden place of our heart and rehearse it in our mind, we are only hurting ourselves. Like a cancer, concealed sin will eat us from the inside out. Better is the one who is honest with himself and his Lord about his transgression, even if all outward appearances point to failure, than one who seems to have it all together.

On the outside we may appear prosperous, but on the inside we may be in turmoil with the heaviness of guilt or in bearing a lie. It is far better to admit our shortcomings to the Savior through confession and be at peace again.

Let’s pray today that we may quickly repent of hidden sin, before we have time to cherish it.
