Redeemer of the Dead
“Very truly I tell you, a time is coming and has now come when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear will live.” John 5:25
Jesus is the resurrection, the life, the Redeemer of the dead – before and after the funeral. He gives life to the one seeking a resurrection for a spiritual death, when we’ve walked away from God and His abundant life. He’ll give life to the one who dies before the Lord returns, but at the resurrection all who sleep in the dust of the ground shall come forth when Jesus calls.
There are a thousand voices clamoring for our attention but only our Lord’s has authority over death. There is hope in knowing that the voice of the Lord will one day call forth from the grave every follower and believer who will hear Him.
Let’s pray today that in our grief we will find comfort in Jesus’ promise to live again.
