Persistent Prayer
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.” Matthew 7:7-8
When we know the love of God for us and His desire to bless us, it is motivation to pray more persistently. Too often we ask once then move on, even lamenting that praying didn’t work, but the truth is we stopped asking because of our disbelief in the very character and willingness of our Heavenly Father to answer. The test is not in the answer but in our asking.
This promise offers a nice visual regarding persistent prayer as asking to receive, seeking to find, and knocking on the doors before us for the answer we prayed for. Prayer is not just a one-time passive shot, but a persistent activity of faith.
Let’s pray today to be faithful to ask, seek, and knock for answered prayers that honor God.
