God’s Discipline
“For no one is cast off by the Lord forever. Though he brings grief, he will show compassion, so great is his unfailing love.“ Lamentations 3:31-32
There are times when God allows us to be disciplined, even harshly, but He never forsakes His own. We may get out of fellowship with Him, usually because we asked for it, but never without His distant watch, while we have opportunity to get our heart right. Though these circumstances seem painful at the time we must know that God has promised that we will not endure that grief forever. Even in our waywardness God is compassionate toward us.
One day, most likely in eternity, we will get the explanations we have longed for regarding the circumstances and situations that have tried our souls on earth. Thankfully, the grief and sorrow that we may know now will not last beyond the Lord’s return.
Let’s pray today to trust in our God’s wisdom of allowing us to endure His discipline.
