Witnesses
“Do not say, “I’ll pay you back for this wrong!” Wait for the Lord, and he will avenge you.“ Proverbs 20:22
Our world is a courtroom and God has appointed us as His witnesses not as our own judge and jury. Without Christ in our hearts, it’s easy to become obsessed with revenge, rather than leaving it in the hands of the One who will exact ultimate judgment. When we wait for God to deal with it we preserve ourselves from going down with them.
It may be human to want to payback another for the harm they have inflicted, but getting even is short-sighted. If you are a disciple of Jesus then you are cognizant that whatever revenge you may be able to exact, won’t undo the harm.
Let’s pray today that we would serve as God’s witness and allow God to execute judgment.
