Thinking Ahead

“The simple inherit folly, but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.” Proverbs 14:18

Short thinking will often lead to ruin because our God expects us to use the brain He gave us. We may live simple lives, but our minds are meant to keep us from the trap of emotional immediate gratification. Biblical Christians think ahead and consider the implications of today’s behaviors and decisions in light of the gospel and the future Kingdom.

Our hearts may be turned toward the Lord, but our minds are still in a battle between the gratification of our flesh and obedience to God’s laws. Even the smartest of us can’t think our lives after God but we can live by His grace.

Let’s pray today that we would think as Jesus did and look ahead toward the glory of God.
